Fusing performing arts disciplines and poetically tackling themes on human existence, that's the heart of Fool’s Cap's work.
Created in 2016 by the choreographer Vinicius Carvalho, Fool’s Cap invests in a transdisciplinary approach to creation, challenging the boundaries between dance, theatre, mime and performance. Marked by varied aesthetic forms, its creations always addresse themes on sensibility and perception, the connection to others and to oneself, the listening and the relation to space.
The company has toured in Europe, Brazil, UK, India and South Korea with support from Arts Council England, European Cultural Foundation, Odin Teatret, La Briqueterie CDCN, Centre National de la Danse, Mediterranean Dance Center, Menagerie de Verre, Danish Arts Foundation, Goethe Institut, Culture Moves Europe, among others.
Its activities are rooted in three main pillars: creation, research and pedagogy. Its works deal with universal themes and have often a popular approach aimed to varied audiences. Research is shared with the community through open studios and participation projects. Pedagogy takes place through workshops and laboratories aimed at professionals and amateurs.
From 2019-22, the company was supported by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux in France which gave birth to a new research on site-specific work. Establishing a dialogue between movement and architecture, reflecting on the relation between stage and audience, Fool's Cap created a series of bespoken performances in collaboration with historical monuments such as Panthéon, Conciergerie Paris, Abbey of Montmajour, Château de Vincennes, Château de Maisons Laffitte, Palais du Tau and Château de Rambouillet.
Based in Montreuil, Fool's Cap develops public engagement activities through workshops intended to professional, amateur and beginner audiences.
Fool's Cap is managed by the Association Scène Hybride.
