Fool’s Cap, company of the choreographer and performer Vinicius Carvalho, was created in England in 2015 and it’s now based on France.
The research on a hybrid artistic language and the choreographic composition inspired by the observation of everyday life are at the heart of the company's creations. Since its foundation, Fool's Cap has invested in an "extended" vision of dance, which combines choreography and acting, performer and character, gesture and intention. Immigrated from Brazil, the choreographer Vinicius Carvalho wishes with each project to cross the barriers of culture, age and language by addressing universal themes, by offering activities for all audiences and by welcoming artists from different backgrounds and cultures.
Since 2019, Fool's Cap’s projects gain an outdoors dimension. Supported by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux to create interventions in historical monuments in France, Vinicius Carvalho questions the relationship between the stage and the public and the possibilities of composition in dialogue with non-conventional spaces.
In seven years of existence, the company has toured in Europe, Brazil, India and South Korea in partnership with the Arts Council England, the European Cultural Foundation, the Odin Teatret, La Briqueterie CDCN, the CND , La Ménagerie de Verre, the Danish Arts Foundation, Espace S'Ala de la Cie. Igor and Moreno, among others.
